Business challenge

To grow its business, PCMS needed a faster, more flexible way to deliver its retail commerce solution.

Solution

Previously, when PCMS onboarded a new customer it could take 7 weeks to order and set up infrastructure. Building on a longstanding relationship with IBM, PCMS chose IBM Cloud to support its engaged commerce platform, the VISION Commerce Suite. The company has taken the architecture that it previously used in data centers and replicated it on IBM Cloud. The VISION Commerce Suite also uses the IBM DB2 ® database and IBM MQ messaging software as key components driving functionality and performance. By using the IBM Cloud, PCMS can more easily expand the scope of its solution.

Finding shelter from the storm with IBM

Business challenge

With its stores located in hurricane- prone South Florida, City Furniture, Inc. needed a proven solution to keep its business-critical computer operations up and running without hurricane-related disruptions. In addition, the retailer needed a scalable managed cloud option for their mission-critical IBM i and x86 environment

Solution

At City Furniture, any strategy designed to hurricane-proof its computer systems had to start with its on-premises legacy systems.

City Furniture moved its hybrid legacy system operations to the cloud. Depending on workloads, the system has the ability to scale up or down so City Furniture only pays for the computing capacity it needs.

With its operational and customer data migrated to the cloud, City Furniture is starting several new projects to better apply this information, including deploying IBM Cognos ® Analytics and IBM Db2 ® Data Warehouse on Cloud solutions, which includes AI capabilities to better serve its customers. �
